Well, where to start? Today was an interesting day filled with a fever, headache, chills, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, elementary school students and reconnecting with my youth in an unexpected way! Odd combination you might think, but not for this maturing grandmother turned custodial step mother to two young kids. All in a days work.
I called in sick to work with a bug my lovely and generous strep daughter shared with me. Today happened to be the turkey dinner day at their elementary school so I cleaned myself up and trotted right on over to partake of the wondrous feast. I say trotted, but I am sure it looked more like lumbering as I walked to the school as awful as I have been feeling. The mashed potatoes were like wallpaper paste, somebody must have spilled the salt container into the dressing....and well I don't recall turkey coming in cubes like the ones swimming in the ran liquid all piled on a styrofoam tray like contraption, but it was an experience I greatly enjoyed and feel so blessed to be a part of.
This afternoon was eventful as well, I had been poking around on facebook and run across a little girl who used to live across the street from me. Of course this little girl is now a grown woman with children of her own and a husband, but to me she will always be the little sister of my best friend growing up. I loved catching up with her and she pointed me to her blog where I got a peek into her family and into her sisters as well! Ah, the memories it stirred. And, alas, this blog was born.....thanks Crissie!
