Memorial Day weekend

After Kenny's 8th grade Graduation, we loaded up the camping gear (actually I had loaded it the night before) and headed north to Utah. We have some really great friends there and we really love going up as often as we can. We honestly would live there if we could.

Unfortunately, it rained, and rained, and rained. We really didn't see much sun all weekend. So, we made the best of it, hung out with our friends, did some local sight seeing, ate at our favorite pizza place and left for home a day early so we could take the long way home and take the kids to see some interesting and must see sights.

First up was my favorite winery along the Colorado River just east of Moab, Castle Creek Winery. I did some wine tasting and then we took advantage of the back drop of some of the vinyards for a photo op.

Next was Hole In The Rock, just south of Moab. We always stop there and take pics of the kids by the wall of licence plates.

Kenny fancies himself the next Tiger woods. This is a sculpture at Hole In The Rock made of old golf clubs.

A little bit down the road is Wilson Arch. We always said we would climb up there...this trip we did!

Half way there....

And they made it (so did I but I stayed a bit behind to get some great photos!)
We then headed for Four Corners. Again, I did the photography while my family stood in four states at once: Colorado, New Mexico, Utah & of course Arizona.

After Four Corners we drove to Window Rock. I remember going here as a child. It was SO different, almost hidden with horrible signage directing you. Such a shame that this place does not deserve better publicity/recognition because when we arrived we discovered that they had placed this amazing monument honoring the Code Talkers from WWII.
And then we went home....where the kids played in the pool and David snoozed......doesn't he look so relaxed?

I loved the photos. I'm not sure how I missed this post before....but I had been in a funk for about a week and hadn't been making my rounds.
I think I need to get my brood out to see some of those great sites.
