Kenny graduated from 8th grade this year. He has made so much progress it makes me cry to even think about it. Just over 2 years ago he was struggling. He was in resource most of the day, and we were told by the teachers, resource specialists and school psychologist that we needed to start preparing ourselves and Kenny for a fully self-contained class room environment in high school as that would be the only way he would experience any success there.
Kenny received very little classroom intervention by the end of 8th grade. He was NEVER pulled out of class for resource, every moment of his day was mainstreamed. As a result of his hard work, and our insistence that the school expect him to succeed he remained on the honor roll all year, was on the principal's list, and received many other academic awards.
As Kenny enters High School, he will be completely mainstreamed. He still has the opportunity to ask for extra help, but 100% of his day will be in regular classrooms.
We are so proud of Kenny's accomplishments and offer this as proof positive that a stable, loving home environment gave Kenny (and his sister Stephanie too) the tools and support that he needed to succeed.
Good job Kenny!
