Today we celebrated our 4th Anniversary.
We are such dorks, every year we give each other a themed gift according to what the experts say is the theme of the year.
Our 1st anniversary was paper. I bought him the book, Guess How Much I Love You? He had his vows to me printed on very pretty paper and framed.
Our 2nd anniversary was cotton. He gave me a frame with a rose made of cotton and a phrase about our 2nd year. I gave him sheets I had embroidered with "Always Kiss Me Goodnight".
Our 3rd anniversary was crystal. This was a VERY lean year, I had been on medical leave for over 9 months. He gave me a crystal Xmas tree ornament in the shape of a snowflake (which I leave out all year). I gave him a crystal picture frame with a picture of us in it.
This year, the 4th, is either fruit/flowers or the more modern version is appliances. He is a man who knows that no matter what I say, he is more likely to survive to see number 5 if he avoids appliances at all costs. Even though one of my favorite gifts of all time is my KitchenAid mixer....he knows that although I tell him I need a new waffle iron or would like to have a Dyson vacuum....he shouldn't go there at this time. Today he sent me chocolate covered strawberries. He also gave me a wooden box with two wooden hearts in it that says "Two Hearts Now Beat as One.". You see, for many months I thought this was the "wooden" anniversary.....I messed up and told him too late! Next year is wood. I gave him a penguin tea timer....you have to understand his fetish for penguins and his love of tea to get this...but he loved it. You can see it here: http://www.stupid.com/fun/PTTT.html
I look forward to our 5th....it will then be wood and I have a lot of ideas already!
What I really look forward to is our 10th, my mother-in-law has promised a trip to Israel as a gift that year!
